And trust me, you don’t need to go all out to win their hearts. (One time, I handed my toddler some shaving cream, and he was over the moon! Yes, folks, shaving cream. The same stuff that you can find at the dollar store).
So, for your next playdate, how about some water play fishing combined with capturing those adorable moments on camera? What a great summer playdate ideas for toddlers!
Shutterbug Playdate -
Shutterbug (noun) - A word coined by Joy, a Shutterbug is a playdate where parents and caregivers are encouraged to take photos of one another and their children. Hosted by a Joy Moon Photography, these events typically feature a theme and are held in picturesque locations and guests receive complimentary photos.
I've heard from countless parents longing for that "one good photo" with their little ones. This sparked a brilliant idea for a playdate: a Shutterbug session where parents and caregivers are encouraged to snap photos of their kiddos and each other. Thus, the first Shutterbug playdate was born! I teamed up with Kat Sandys, from Little Language Lab, a speech pathologist who specializes in working with toddlers, and together, we set up activity stations perfect for photography.
Kat’s setup was pure genius – simple fishing with toy poles and catching bugs. It was a massive hit with the little ones! This experience taught me that you don’t need extravagant supplies to create memorable moments. The key takeaway? Always take photos, and don't forget to snap a few for your fellow parents. Then, you’ll actually have that photo you have been longing for.
Easy Playdate Ideas: Just Bring Your Camera!
Don’t overthink it. Consider what your little one enjoys, invite your parent friends, and have fun snapping away. Here are some fantastic theme ideas and locations for a Shutterbug playdate:
